No child should feel unsafe simply for their gender identity. By having a gender identity and sexual orientation education program, children are not only taught about inclusion and diversity but are supported in exploring their own sexuality and gender. Excluding these educational programs means further marginalization of the queer community and subsequent prevalence of ignorant homophobic and transphobic ideologies in future generations. AUUC Vancouver condemns the anti-SOGI protests occurring across Canada. This act of violence against the 2SLGBTQIA+ community cannot be accepted or tolerated. Education saves lives.
