BLACK LIVES MATTER.

What AUUC Vancouver is doing to show its support..

We at the AUUC Vancouver Branch stand in solidarity with and in support of those protesters in the United States and all over the world fighting for Black lives after the recent murder of George Floyd by police officer Derek Chauvin.  As an organization, we have always supported social causes to improve the lives of people regardless of race or colour.  We likewise support the fight for racial equality.  We demand justice for the many Black lives that have been lost to police brutality and racist killings across the globe.

The abuse and murder of Black people at the hands of the police must end.  President Trump must be held accountable for his comments and actions in further inciting violence against protesters.  We cannot stay silent if we hope to achieve meaningful change.

The Canadian government must condemn President Trump.  They must condemn the indiscriminate killing of Black and Indigenous people, both in America and around the world.  Now is the time to act.

Black lives matter.
