We, the Vancouver Branch of the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians, wish to offer our

deepest condolences to Vancouver’s Filipino community in the aftermath of the violent attack of April

26th. Our hearts go out to the families of those whose lives were lost and to all of the people who were

affected by the loss of their sense of safety and security at this family event. No one should have to

suffer such loss in this city where we support and celebrate our rich cultural heritages. We call on both

the civic and provincial governments to fully investigate the incident to determine the reasons for the

attack and offer solutions to help prevent any future attacks on public safety. Whether due to racism

and hate, or mental health issues, our governments should enact policies and programmes that are

supportive of all our citizens, their health, and their safety. To the Filipino community, we offer our

support and sympathy and our hope that you will be able to move forward with strength and resilience.
